Last Friday night could not have gone better for the Bentonville West Wolverines. Bentonville West was able to jump on Van Buren and cruise to the first victory in school history. Meanwhile, last Friday could not have gone worse for the defending state champion Fayetteville Bulldogs. The Purple Dogs and the Wolverines are on a collision course this Friday, in a game that both teams need to win.

The Bentonville West Wolverines have flashed potential all season and last week fans caught a glimpse of just how talented a team the Wolverines are. The Wolverines were able to put it all together last week against Van Buren and are looking to build off that strong performance. Bentonville West will need to be prepared to face angry, determined Fayetteville Purple Dogs group that are determined to right the ship.

The Purple Dogs up until last week had been on a roll through the early part of the season. The Bentonville Tigers managed to contain Fayetteville’s explosive offense and defeat Fayetteville 24-21. The Tigers’ defense was able to put pressure on Fayetteville quarterback Taylor Powell and force some mistakes. The Purple Dogs’ offense looks to bounce back against a young Bentonville West team.

Bentonville West will need to pressure and attempt to confuse the Fayetteville offense this Friday. The Fayetteville offense is a talented one with numerous division 1 athletes on both sides of the ball. The Wolverines should look to keep the ball on the ground from an offensive perspective and limit the big plays that the Fayetteville offense can churn out. Bentonville West will have a chance to stay in the game if they can sustain drives and keep the talented Fayetteville offense off the field.

However, the Fayetteville Purple Dogs are likely going to be an angry, more determined football team after falling to Bentonville last week. The Fayetteville offense is looking to find some momentum and capitalize when the opposing defense gives them a chance at a big play. The Purple Dogs’ defense will need to watch out for impressive wide receiver Jadon Jackson. Jackson has the ability to take it to the end zone from anywhere on the field. The only questions remaining is will Fayetteville return to form or will the Wolverines pull off a huge upset?
